Inside the all-new 2010 Chevy Traverse

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

35680e2The all-new 2010 Chevy Traverse is the crossover you never saw coming. Combining the very best style, fuel economy, versatility and safety in its class, Chevy’s newest introduction is perhaps the finest crossover available and one of the most exceptional vehicles the company has ever produced.

Named a 2009 Consumer Digest Best Buy, the all-new Chevy Traverse is the crossover you’ve been waiting for. Its style is beyond reproach, combining classic elegance with ultra-modern features and design.

The signature Chevy badge rests proudly on a horizontal bar separating the two sections of Traverse’s massive chrome mesh grille. The subtle but sporty point of the front end is matched by the aggressive styling of its angled automatic headlamps and integrated foglamps. The Traverse is noticeably beefy and substantial, but undeniably sleek and aerodynamic.

A simple hood leads to a gently arching roofline. On either side, body-colored molding, mirror-mounted turn signals and massive 20-inch polished-aluminum alloy wheels suggest quiet confidence while available roofrails (and a luggage rack), power folding mirrors, a trailer hitch and a rear spoiler can complete the Traverse’s unique and versatile appearance.

Under the hood, the 2010 Traverse is as capable as they come. A standard 3.6-liter V6 powers out 281 hp and 266 lb/ft of torque while maintaining class-leading fuel efficiency estimated at 24 mpg highway. The LTZ model’s upgraded 3.6-liter Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) V6 is capable of a boosted 288 hp and 270 lb/ft of torque while still achieving an impressive 23 mpg highway.

The powerful and capable Traverse also features available all-wheel drive, which actively provides necessary torque to rear or slipping wheels to ensure exceptional traction on difficult terrain. When coupled with Chevy’s renowned StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, the Traverse manages smooth, seamless power and torque in difficult conditions, giving you unmatched confidence in any driving situation.

Traction control and four-wheel antilock disc brakes are also standard on the Traverse and are joined by safety features including daytime running lamps, an intelligent array of six standard airbags and the safety and security of Chevy’s OnStar system with emergency alert and turn-by-turn navigation. In fact, when it comes to safety, the 2010 Traverse earned a well-deserved five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Inside, Chevy’s newest is as versatile as it is luxurious. Seating for up to eight features exceptional leg, head and shoulder space through first-row buckets and second- and third-row bench seating. Traverse can seat seven as well through first-row buckets, second-row captains’ chairs and a third-row bench. Available heated and cooled power leather seats make the Traverse one of the most comfortable options in its class while folding rear seats open up more interior cargo space than anything the competition has to offer – over 117 cubic feet of space behind the first row.

Continuing the theme of the body design, the interior itself is stylish and modern. Subtle illumination, a power sunroof and elegantly crafted materials give an overwhelming sense of refinement that’s matched only by the incredible array of integrated technology. Available tri-zone automatic climate control, an innovative trip computer and a power liftgate add exceptional convenience, but the real thrills come in the form of a 10-speaker premium BOSE audio system with XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, a navigation system and incorporated DVD entertainment systems.

Chevy has designed the 2010 Traverse to exceed the competition when it comes to style, functionality, performance and technology. It’s the best-in-class crossover with best-in-class features.

The 2010 Chevy Traverse features a starting MSRP of only $29,990.

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

35680f2It’s odd to describe a vehicle as savvy, but there are few better descriptors for the 2009 Chevy Cobalt. Combining intelligent design, efficient performance and innovative technology into one affordable package, the newest Cobalt is perhaps the most street-savvy vehicle on the market.

In sedan and coupe models, the 2009 Chevy Cobalt combines remarkably simple design with modern, athletic features. Just because it’s the practical, economical choice doesn’t mean it has to look like it. The Chevy badge rests atop a sleek, black mesh grille and flanking cat-eye automatic headlamps. Below, available integrated foglamps complete a gently sloping nose.

The lines of the new Cobalt are long and contemporary. There’s an underlying sense of speed and performance to the design that cannot be ignored. Its generous length, sweeping roofline and wide stance connote confident strength while low profile, multi-spoke alloys, a rear spoiler and chrome-tipped exhaust ensure an aggressive athleticism. Gently flared wheel arches and body-colored accents give the newest Cobalt an elegant, understated appearance.

Beneath the hood, the 2009 Cobalt is anything but understated. Chevy’s standard engine is a spirited and ride-optimized 2.2-liter ECOTEC inline four-cylinder capable of 155 hp and 150 lb/ft of torque through a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with manual transmission, the Cobalt’s four-cylinder achieves a staggering 37 mpg highway.

For race-inspired power, Chevy has equipped the Cobalt SS model with an upgraded five-speed manual-controlled 2.0-liter ECOTEC four-cylinder. This advanced performance-based powerplant produces an impressive 260 hp and 260 lb/ft of torque and utilizes cutting-edge engineering and direct-injection technology to achieve up to 30 mpg highway. Chevy’s available StabiliTrak electronic stability control system is matched to a sport-tuned suspension system with monotube shocks to ensure nimble, responsive ride control while standard antilock brakes provide unrivaled stopping power.

Beyond stability control and antilock disc brakes, the 2009 Cobalt integrates daytime running lights, advanced traction control and an intelligent array of airbags to ensure optimal safety at all times. The comfort and convenience of Chevy’s innovative OnStar system with hands-free phone system, emergency response and automatic crash response is also standard in the newest Cobalt.

Inside, Chevy has placed an obvious emphasis on personal comfort and modern convenience. Interior design is simple yet sporty, much like the outside. Available heated leather bucket seats and a power sunroof present an overwhelmingly comfortable cabin while sport-inspired gauges and a well designed center stack make this Cobalt the most contemporary to date. An available leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote starter and tire-pressure monitoring system highlight an impressive list of interior amenities.

In terms of technology, the newest Cobalt is the best yet. The center stack houses an available premium CD audio system with auxiliary and USB inputs (for iPods and MP3 players) and XM Satellite Radio. Bluetooth wireless communication and a well-integrated and innovative driver information center make this year’s Cobalt as tech-savvy as it is street-smart.

With its exceptional combination of efficiency, versatility and convenience, the 2009 Chevy Cobalt is an undeniably practical and intelligent choice. With a 260-hp engine, just don’t expect it to act like one all the time.

The 2009 Chevy Cobalt features a starting MSRP of just $16,380.
